Pedro Dana, from IWMF reflects: “We are excited to partner with Native Agency for the Native Documentary Festival and are proud to provide support for women visual storytellers to participate from across Latin America.”
This workshop has been developed for those visual storytellers (photography and videography) who would like to develop their skills to create, edit and narrate their visual stories successfully. We will analyze methodologies needed for the research and production of short and long-term visual essays. We will explore different aspects in documentary visual essay-making such as: how to develop ideas; how to research; production; editing and writing of photo captions, of your visual story. There will be a critical assessment of ideas for documentary projects in terms of their visual and commercial potential. Finally, they will learn to develop new projects where the personal photographic voice will come to life.
Following the workshop and portfolio review, Native will open its doors to everyone for two afternoons of inspirational talks from our very own Native storytellers, along with national experts in the field.
To wrap up the festival, Native invites all participants and visitors to join us for an evening of electronic Latin American rhythms and cadence: the launch of Mishky Records with a public party featuring female DJs and live acts from Ecuador, Colombia and Brazil. Join the event here
